This moment from a particularly feisty 2003 El Clasico suggests the next Barcelona v Real Madrid clash could get seriously heated
The biggest club game in world football is often so feisty, a potentially brilliant match between some of the planet’s most gifted players often descends into a petty, Sunday League style scrap.Well, be warned people. Because, in the words of Danny Dyer, Real Madrid v Barcelona is about to get “proper naughty”. Watch the video above and you will see why.
The clip comes from the 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu in April 2003, and shows a melee provoked by a fight between either side’s key midfielder. Yes, it’s Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane – who has just replaced Rafa Benitez in football’s hottest hotseat – in a head-to-head with current Barcelona boss Luis Enrique.
Doesn’t suggest the two men now in charge of Spain’s biggest clubs are particularly fond of one another, does it?
For those of you into forward planning, the next edition of football’s greatest soap opera takes place on 3 April 2016, at the Nou Camp.
Don’t about you lot, but we might spend more time looking at the touchline than the pitch. If things get particularly heated, we might even see the great Zizou replicate this.
